Eternal Father, Thou hast said

Author: Ray Palmer

Eternal Father, Thou hast said
That Christ all glory shall obtain;
That He Who once a suff'rer bled
Shall o'er the world a conqu'ror reign.

We wait Thy triumph, Savior King,
Long ages have prepared Thy way;
Now all abroad Thy banner fling,
Set time's great battle in array.

Thy hosts are mustered to the field;
"The Cross! the Cross!" the battle call;
The old grim towers of darkness yield,
And soon shall totter to their fall.

On mountain tops the watch fires glow,
Where scattered wide the watchmen stand;
Voice echoes voice, and onward flow
The joyous shouts from land to land.

Oh, fill the Church with faith and power!
Bid her long nights of weeping cease;
To groaning nations haste the hour
Of life and freedom, light and peace.

Come, Spirit, make Thy wonders known,
Fulfill the Father's high decree;
Then earth, the might of hell o'er thrown,
Shall keep her last great jubilee.

Soon may the last glad song arise

Author: Ascribed to Mrs Vokes

Soon may the last glad song arise
through all the millions of the skies,
that song of triumph which records
that all the earth is now the Lord's.

Let thrones and powers and kingdoms be
obedient, mighty God, to thee;
and over land and stream and main
wave thou the scepter of thy reign.

O let that glorious anthem swell,
let host to host the triumph tell,
till not one rebel heart remains,
but over all the Savior reigns!

Come, gracious Spirit, heavenly Dove

Author: Simon Browne

Come, gracious Spirit, heav'nly Dove,
With light and comfort from above;
Be Thou our Guardian, Thou our Guide,
O'er every thought and step preside,
O'er every thought and step preside.

The light of truth to us display,
And make us know and choose Thy way;
Plant holy fear in every heart,
That we from God may ne'er depart,
That we from God may ne'er depart.

Lead us to holiness, the road
Which we must take to dwell with God;
Lead us to Christ, the living way,
Nor let us from His pastures stray,
Nor let us from His pastures stray.

Lead us to God, our final rest,
To be with Him forever blest;
Lead us to Heav'n, its bliss to share,
Fullness of joy forever there,
Fullness of joy forever there.
